I have been putting a spoonful of honey into my morning smoothies that I make.... I knew that my body was telling me it was for medicinal purposes ;).

Will actually try and add some Cinnamon too and see if it still tastes good.

Hi John, we can't give medical advice as we are not doctors. However, I would suggest you visit http://www.herbdoc.com/ to see if you can find information there, and if not, call them and see if they can point you in the right direction.

Anna, thank you, you are absolutely right. I noticed this lack and so founded this site. Yes, there are different types of kits for different areas and I will write about these, they are more simple than some people think!

This sounds very interesting. I also heard that honey mixed with an egg and rubbed into the hair (like conditioner) makes your hair grow 1 inch per month. Definitely honey has been a terrific medicin over the ages. Those bees....

Well that does certainly give one a different look. It seemed so real though, it's true that it is just way too possible. Really, everyone should be aware of these things and what can be done to prevent disaster. As it can affect anyone, and when you least expect it. You don't have to be on an Antarctic Trekking expedition to run into an emergency.

Wow! That's a lot of stuff! But it's funny you wrote about this - just recently I was on a seemingly innocent hike which turned out to take me a lot longer than I had expected, and I wasn't getting back to the road on time. There were plenty of times when I wondered what I would do if I wound up having to stay overnight in the forest ... not that this would have happened on that hike.

But, even on a day hike, things could go wrong and you could get stuck!! Plus, what if you lose your bag, if it falls down a cliff for example. So it makes sense that the kit should be attached to you.

I've always thought this subject should be taught more thoroughly in schools. Interesting that such a small survival kit could make a difference. We should probably keep one in several locations - the car, the office, home, and any other place we go to frequently. Like you said, disasters aren't planned so one should really be prepared even if nothing is expected. It's not as if one can say "Oh I'm going to be on the beach during a Tsunami tomorrow, I better get ready."
